EMPTY BOWLS
This annual event raises awareness about the issues of hunger and food insecurity and raises funds to help combat hunger here in our local communities. The event centers around a simple meal of soup and bread donated by local restaurants and bakeries and features handcrafted bowls, made and donated by local schools and amateur/professional artisans.
Simple meal, a simple concept – many of our residents don’t have much to eat. An empty bowl – a reminder of your choice to help fight hunger in Mercer County.
Empty Bowls 2023 will be held at the Corinthian Banquet Hall & Event Center on May 4th from 4-8pm and features a basket raffle, silent auction, live entertainment and a cash bar. Click here to get your tickets online!
RACE TO END HUNGER
This is our annual 5K/2 Mile Walk and Kid’s Fun Run, one of the food bank’s most important fundraisers. Since the inaugural race in 2010, through the generosity of our sponsors and participants, we have raised over $280,000. Our Thirteenth Annual Race was held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Butler County Community College's LindenPointe campus in Hermitage, PA. Click here for more details and to sign up!
FARM DAY IN TOWN
This event, typically held the first week of October each year, provides agricultural education to young children who otherwise might not have the opportunity to learn where their food comes from and to learn about healthy food choices.
Community Food Warehouse hosts first graders from school districts throughout Mercer County. This week-long event is a partnership with local farmers, 4-H Program, and the Dairy Association and features the PA Mobile Agricultural Science Lab. Students rotate through the AG Lab and various food information and sample tasting stations in the event room at the food bank. Farm Day is free to participating schools thanks to special grant funding.
