Our Harvest Helpings Produce Program distributed 197,313 pounds of fresh produce to those in need in 2021, through our member agencies and at produce distributions.
Harvest Helpings provides fresh year-around produce to food insecure households through the Mid-Atlantic Regional Coop and PASS (Pennsylvania Agricultural Surplus System), as well as local farmers and our local Tri-County Produce Auction in New Wilmington. Fresh produce adds a higher nutritional content to the list of typical shelf-stable food items offered at pantries.
Because of the success of this program, we are in need of volunteers to assist with sorting and bagging produce, as well as volunteers who are able to help at the multiple produce distributions we host throughout the summer months. Due to the nature of farming, we are looking for volunteers who may be available on short notice to help us with these volunteer opportunities. If you or your group may be interested, please contact our Development Coordinator at 724.981.0353.
